This paper completes the requirements for the Week 1 Exercise in EDU 542. It provides a discussion of three models of instructional design: constructivism, the information processing model, and the cognitive learning model. The paper also meets the AZ teaching standards 1:6,9,10,11; 2:1,3,5,6; and 5:4 which are listed below.
AZ- Arizona's Professional Teacher Standards
Standard 1: The teacher designs and plans instruction that develops students' abilities to meet Arizona's academic standards and the district's assessment plan.The performance assessment shall measure the extent to which the teacher?s planning:
Assessed performance 6: Indicates short and long term curriculum goals
Assessed performance 9: Includes learning experiences that address a variety of cognitive levels
Assessed performance 10: Includes learning experiences that are appropriate for curriculum goals
Assessed performance 11: Includes learning experiences that are based upon principles of effective instruction
Standard 2: The teacher creates and maintains a learning climate that supports the development of students' abilities to meet Arizona's academic standards.The performance assessment shall measure the extent to which the teacher:
Assessed performance 1: Establishes and maintains standards of mutual respect
Standard 3: The teacher implements and manages instruction that develops students' abilities to meet Arizona's academic standardsThe performance assessment shall measure the extent to which the teacher:
Assessed performance 5: Demonstrates effective written and oral communication
Assessed performance 6: Uses appropriate language to communicate with learners clearly and accurately
Standard 5: The teacher collaborates with colleagues, parents, the community and other agencies to design, implement, and support learning programs that develop students' abilities to meet Arizona's academic standards and transition from school to work or post-secondary educationThe performance assessment shall measure the extent to which the teacher:
Assessed performance 4: Demonstrates productive leadership and team membership skills that facilitate the development of mutually beneficial goals

This paper provides a detailed analysis of how Individual Education Plans (IEPs) are incorporated into lesson plans.  It also provides three examples of IEPs and three different lesson plan formats.  It meets the requirements for Arizona Professional Teacher Standards 1:7; 2:3,6,7-9; 3:1-5,10,11,13-15; 4:2; 5:3; 7:1b,2-5.
