Welcome to the Salpointe Fine Arts Department. I am extending an open invitation to visit room 413, Salpointe's 2-D visual arts studio, where the art of creation happens daily. All 2-D visual arts courses are presented in a studio environment, which encourages students to use, develop, and enhance the joy of creative learning while exploring different 2-Dimensional art media to include: drawing, painting, design, printmaking and relief.
Departmental Objectives - Students will:
Experience a sequential program of art instruction that focuses on art production.
Develop sensitivity to aesthetic considerations by identifying art as a visual language, organizing and visually expressing their ideas, personal feelings, experiences, and aspirations.
Observe, interpret, and analyze the work of famous and contemporary artists.
Develop a personal portfolio as well as participate in group projects.
Actively participate in group critiques that encourage both peer and self evaluation.
Reference and incorporate art history as a model in some art works.
Display art work on the Salpointe school campus and in the community as well as participate in Salpointe's annual school art exhibitions.
Feel free to contact me during normal business hours in the months of August-May. The best method is through email: jvalandry@Salpointe.org. I can also be reached by phone at 547-5882. Jo Valandry, Fine Arts Dept Chair (visual arts).
