Intermediate Art, 2-D Drawing and Painting course features a variety of 2-dimensional projects in drawing, design, painting, printmaking and relief. This course is offered to students who have taken Intro to Art, 2-D Drawing and Painting and gives them a broader range of fun projects that encourage each student's personal expression as well as begin to develop a portfolio for AP studio Art. A large part of the course is dedicated to technical skill building in diverse media, research and coming up with inventive solutions to art projects. Students continue to create artwork with a conscious use of the elements of art and principles of design and use this language during group critiques. Besides Salpointe's Fine Arts Spring Extravaganza, Intermediate 2-D art students will be encouraged to submit artwork to the Pima County Superior Courthouse, Courthouse Gallery exhibition scheduled for Jan, 2014 and the Pima Main Library High School invitational.

Sketchbook

assignments
Salpointe-Adv-Art-SBK-Cover.jpg

Sketchbook assignments are easy, fun, fast and used as practice for all major projects. Your first assignment will be to design the cover of your sketchbook using the guidelines from the SBK cover assignment. The cover design will express who you are at this point in time as an artist. On a practical note the design is limited to a specific color by class for easy identification.

In the body of your sketchbook you may be sketching designs, evaluating a process, writing art vocabulary, taking notes on a demo, making thumbnail sketches, writing reflections and more. All students are responsible for all sketchbook assignments! Sketchbooks are collected periodically during the semester for grading. There are three sketchbook checks, which are all due on Monday every six weeks. To see the most current Intermediate art sketchbook assignments check out this page weekly.
