Advanced Art 2-D, Drawing and Painting Course Description:

Advanced Art 2-D, Drawing and Painting is a fine arts course that features the development of student voice/concept within various art media and projects. At this level, students co-create several 2-D art projects with teacher guidance. However, each project is built on concepts that have previously been explored in Introduction to Art 2-D Emphasis and Intermediate Art 2-D Emphasis. Students who sign up for this course are expected have developed adept drawing, design, printmaking and painting skills and show a in-depth knowledge of the elements of art and principles of design. Students will use art vocabulary specific to various art media, define historical and aesthetic references in the art world, evaluate both peer and contemporary artworks, and discuss the aesthetic value of artworks in critiques. Mastery is the goal for students through exercises, which emphasize critical thinking skills, technical prowess, and personal expression through visual art as a means of communication.

Sketchbook

assignments

Sketchbook assignments are easy, fun, fast and used as practice for all major projects. Your first assignment will be to design the cover of your sketchbook using the guidelines from the sketchbook cover assignment page. The cover design will express who you are at this point in time as an artist. On a practical note the design is limited to a specific color by class for easy identification.

In the body of your sketchbook you may be sketching designs, evaluating a process, writing art vocabulary, taking notes on a demo, making thumbnail sketches, writing reflections and more. All students are responsible for all sketchbook assignments! To see the most current Advanced Art SBK assignments check out this page weekly.
