Community Engagement: Leading Together (10/3)

This SLI was lead by David Harker who is the Director of Civil Engagement. He talked about the importance of being part of a community and the responsibilities that go along with it. He taught us how to truly engage well, and how commitment, communication and compatibility are key elements. Finding a project that is meaningful to you and touches on a passion you have is important to truly make your work meaningful. I enjoyed his conversation on how communicating to society on something that is important to you can truly change someone opinion. You can't work at someone, you have to work with them. Telling someone to do community service isn't going to make them do it, but finding something that means a lot to them and explaining the opportunities around it is more likely to make them get involved.
