In the video above, the students were reading a story from an Open Court unit. This was during my solo weeks and we planned the lesson to be read as play. This was a readers theater method which I learned from the Teacher Education class on visual and performing arts methods. We practiced for three days and while they read I was helping improve their performance by asking them why their character would do certain things (based on the context). Overall, the lesson was successful. The only things that I had any issues with was the fact that we had to do the play three times for three groups. The decorations and the costumes were good additions that helped the students get into character.
In the picture above, I was monitoring student learning by observing them while they were doing their computer activity on the eating behaviors of an ant. I had to see if they needed any help with their computer knowledge. All students were able to manipulate the computers well, however, some needed help with navigating the menus of the web site they were visiting. I was able to commend them each for staying on task, using the computer well, listening to my directions, and answering questions related to the content I would periodically ask each student.
