While the Carroll County High School Building Trades instructors have attended numerous professional development activities over the past three years, these were the only agendas available.
Mr. Warren worked to prepare a Self-Compliance Report of the Carroll County Public School Division's Perkins Funding. This information was conveyed to the Carroll County Vocational Program's Advisory Committee during one of the regularly scheduled meetings. This information was also shared during a Carroll County High School vocational departmental meeting.
Carroll County Building Trades instructors both serve on the board of Fuller Center for Housing - Greater Carroll County Area. Mr. Warren serves as the Vice President, while Mr. Leggett serves as the Treasurer. This service has proven instrumental in taking the Building Trades program to the next level through the student construction of a house.
CREATES Job Grant is a partnership between Wytheville Community College and Virginia Tech. As adjunct faculty, Mr. Warren and Mr. Leggett participate in CREATES curriculum development meetings. Virginia Tech partners from the CREATES grant initiative meet with WCC faculty regarding curriculum development. We are in discussion of what teaching topics/materials would be most useful to you and what you would most like to see developed in the curriculum portal.
Mr. Warren recently served on a SACS-CASI review team of the Richmond Technical Center. Work on this committee provided an in-depth review of another vocational system and program.
Mr. Warren also worked to compile a Self-Compliance Report for the Carroll County Public School Division's Perkins Funding. This review included an in-depth review of other vocational programs in the local system.
