In developing the comparison chart to compare teacher standards of Adapted Physical Education National Standards, NBPTS Exceptional Standards, Colordao Teaching Standards, CEC Professional Standards, INTASC Principles, and the NCLB High Quality Teacher it was imperative that the chart follow in a user-friendly manner.

As an adapted physical educator, I am also is nationally certified in adapted physical education, through APENS. I constantly referring to the 15 Adapted Physical Education National Standards as a professional.

The ability to meet both Standard 1 and Standard 2 as stated below through the complete understanding of gross motor development of the student whether they are non-disabled or have a disability. As an adapted physical educator it is vital that appropriate adaptations, accommodations, and modifications are
made so that the student can successfully access the general physical education curriculum.

Standard 1: Demonstrates competency in motor skills and movement patterns needed to perform a variety of physical activities


Standard 2: Demonstrates understanding of movement concepts, principles, strategies, and tactics as they apply to the learning and performance of physical activities

Overview: National Standards for Physical EducationPhysical activity is critical to the development and maintenance of good health. The goal of physical education is to develop physically educated individuals who have the knowledge, skills, and confidence to enjoy a lifetime of healthful physical activity.
Standard 1: Demonstrates competency in motor skills and movement patterns needed to perform a variety of physical activities

Standard 3: Participates regularly in physical activity
Standard 4: Achieves and maintains a health-enhancing level of physical fitness

Standard 6: Values physical activity for health, enjoyment, challenge, self-expression, and/or social interaction
