E-Portfolio Assignment: Teaching Toolbox
This portfolio is for you to preserve what you learned in this class for future use in the classroom. The following sections should be included in your portfolio:
i) Introduction
Give an overview of your Portfolio.
ii) Professional Presentation
(1) Choose a topic from the course and define an audience (e.g., educators, administration, parents, students, legislature, etc.) for your presentation.
(2) Design a professional presentation in the format of a PowerPoint, workshop, or video. Include anticipatory set (introduction that captures participant attention), objective, instructional content relating to objective, participant activities, assessment of and by participants, and closure.
(3) If possible, conduct the presentation. Obtain feedback from participants.
(4) Along with the actual assignment, slide notes, background materials, etc. are required to be submitted to the instructor as well as the final project.
(5) Submit the assignment to the instructor in ANGEL by the end of Module 8
(6) Additionally, submit the assignment to TaskStream by the end of Module 8.
iii) Achieving Personal Goals
This section includes specific evidence from your coursework that demonstrates your achievement of course objectives in the following areas:
(1) The Problem and History of ED
(2) Assessment of ED
(3) Causes of ED
(4) Facets of ED
You need to provide two pieces of evidence for each category, a rationale why you chose each piece, and an evaluation of your current skills in the area.
iv) Reflective Evaluation
Take the time to reflect on these past eight weeks and the topics covered. Reflect on what kind of teacher you would like to be. How are you going to get there? Which topics these past eight weeks, were of most relevance to you? Review the course objectives and write a statement about what you learned. Develop plans for continuing your professional development in the field of special education. Summarize your reflections in a 500-750 word essay.
v) Submit to your instructor by the end of Module 8.
