I'm the "new" teacher you've been looking for.
Here are 3 reasons why:

  1. My personal mission is to meet every child where they are and accelerate them along their individual learning paths.
  2. I will bring my corporate skills to bear in the classroom: working with parents, time management, measurable outcomes.
  3. I will instill a "growth" mindset in students, empowering them to grow any skill or ability they set their minds to.

As a new member of the education community, I will use my understanding of child development to help students progress within an appropriate range of abilities and skills. I will get to know each student as a person, understanding their learning styles, strengths, weaknesses, and interests, to help me present lessons that can reach them all. I will seek ways to engage each student.

My sincere enthusiasm for public education led me to change careers after twelve successful years managing business teams, projects, and multiple (sometimes competing) organizational interests. While my preservice and student teaching has prepared me for differentiated instruction, authentic assessment, and classroom management, my first career prepared me to work with the many stakeholders in public education: the students, staff, administration, and parents. I am especially skilled in making the best use of parent volunteers in the classroom as a result of leading cross functional project teams in my corporate days.

In addition to teaching children knowledge and skills, I will teach them to be respectful, engaged, and responsible learners. Students who see intelligence and accomplishment as areas they can develop and grow with practice, good strategies, and perseverance are better positioned for success in all areas of their lives.  For more information on "growth" mindset and life success, see the work of Carol Dweck.
