Conferences and workshops attended:
September 2010
I am currently enrolled on a course comprised completely of distance learning. The topic is data and coaching; more to follow...
October 2010
The online class is definitely a medium I like. I attended a training on Promethean Board use as our school is now in the process of obtaining a new Promethean from another classroom. I think it's important that we all start using ELMO carts more. Come on people, the overhead era is a wrap!
November 2010
I plan on attending/hosting a Discovery computer training for technology in the classrooms. We also are in the implementation phase of piloting software for distance learning and credit recovery. Quite frankly, I believe distance learning is really going markedly increase, even at the k-12 levels. It is a means of reaching more students and increasing college access to professionals. I am committed to staying involved with the technology in education. We also were fortunate enough to get another Smart board! Moving right along.
December 2010
Well it is difficult for some teachers to use newer technologies but most are willing to try. In additon to the Prometheans and Elmos we've added a slate for use with the overhead, ideal for Math and I am going to purchase two iPads, perfect for science. We hope to offer this technology to students in the future.
January 2011
At this point we are just waiting for the iPads, I have a personal one and was impressed with what it had to offer in the sciences. I am excited to participate in some lesson develepment. We also plan to start using a digital portolio system as well. Students are able to upload their culminating pieces.
February 2011
We are still working on technological grants. We have purchased some iPads as a pilot and also have begun to use social networking for educational purposes.
March 2011
This is the toughest month during the school year by far...
April 2011
Technology has been a great resource. We have implented more and more technology into curriculum development. Our goal is to have students uploading most of the work by way of digital dropbox. It is still a process that requires more access to computers.
