Tessa Zanoni: CEPS M.Ed. Internship

Tessa Zanoni: CEPS M.Ed. Internship

This portfolio represents my personal and professional growth throughout the CEPS internship. It contains my best work, examples of projects, and evidence of how I met the learning outcomes of the CEPS M.Ed. program.

Professional Goals

I completed my CEPS M.Ed. Internship in the Office of First and Second Year Advising (FSYA) at Loyola University Chicago, under the Academic Advisor for International Students, Ms. Akeya Porter. As a full-time staff member at Loyola University Chicago in the Office for International Programs (OIP), I wanted to explore a different aspect of international education. In my staff position of Office Administrator, I get to work with international students and staff, answering their questions about visas, work authorization, and more. Most of what we do in OIP is in relation helping students’ maintain their legal status and work authorization, but I was also interested in learning more about the academic experience of these students. Akeya Porter has a unique perspective on the international student experience at LUC and I knew that I could gain a lot of practical knowledge from working with her. I worked on three major projects: the Weekend of Excellence International Student Celebration, incoming international student registration, and the Rome Start Orientation. My primary goal was to develop a better understanding of the field of academic advising. My secondary goal was to learn more about processes and support services for international students at Loyola.
