Alabama State Department of Education Requirements

Overview: 
Effective April, 2005, anyone seeking initial teaching certification in the state of Alabama must successfully pass all portions of the Alabama Prospective Teacher Test Program (APTTP) AND an appropriate subject area assessment from the PRAXIS II.  You must pass both of these tests in order to apply for certification with the Alabama State Department of Education.  Verification of passing both tests must be submitted to the UAB School of Education Records Office (Room 100).  Click on the blue link below to learn more about both the APPTP and the Praxis II.  This link takes you directly to the Alabama State Department of Education website and provides much information about these teacher assessments!
