Overview

Take time to reflect upon your previous educational experiences...  Can you recall a teacher who was unprofessional or unethical?  What impact did this teacher's behavior have on you and other students in your classroom?  Why is it important to consider your own ethical and professional behavior?  Why is it important for teachers to become involved in their professional organizations and participate in ongoing professional development opportunities?

In EDU 200, we will discuss the importance of professionalism and ethics in teaching.  During this time, we will also discuss how your professionalism will be assessed as a teacher education candidate.  Additionally, you will be required to develop a Personal Code of Ethics to guide you as a future teacher.  Finally, you will be required to investigate some of the benefits of professional organizations that will be important to you as a future teacher.
