I first became involved with the hospital back in 2011 when it was still Children’s Memorial Hospital. I was so nervous when I first applied because this is the kind of place I thought I could only dream of being apart of. Starting work there in 2011 was a special, exciting time for the hospital. It was all a buzz with talk of the transition to the new hospital. I was constantly hearing stories about the new technology that was going to be available and all the amenities for the children to help make it the best possible environment for them to be in. I was first hired on as a Student Research Assistant for the Division of Orthopaedic Surgery and Sports Medicine for a project called KIPP. I have since taken the opportunity to evolve my employment with the Division for Sports Medicine into work on a study about concussions for the Brain Research Foundation and also a Database project specific for one of the doctors. This employment opportunity really has been my saving grace. Being involved with such a great hospital that does everything it can to be at the forefront of medicine and research is an experience I am going to take with me for the rest of my life. It is an environment that makes you want to give your best work and make sure you are doing your part.
