Through my work and internship experience I am finding out what my strengths are. Figuring these out has been a journey on its own. It has really provoked me to look inward and be honest with myself. And that honesty has led me to say; I have a pretty stereotypical type A personality. But I say this with pride. I know my strengths are being able to be intensely focused and detail oriented about whatever I am working on. I will never do something half hearted. I have a competitive side that always drives me to do my best, but not take it to far. I can be very impartial, I don’t usually get caught up with emotions, I have a good ability to be able to remove myself from a situation. I am also very realistic. But one of my best strengths comes from my ability to interact with people. You cannot embarrass anymore. I have had been thrown into so many situations from going on stage at CPS citywide meetings to recruit participants to standing on Michigan Ave yelling about a sale for Banana Republic to the public as they walk by trying to avoid eye contact with me.
It is from these strengths that I believe I have chosen the right career path. I know I am cut out to be in the medical field. I want to spend everyday making a difference in someone's life. I dream of one day returning to Lurie Children's Hospital, but this time as a Physician Assistant. And it is through my strengths that I know I am going to get there. My mind is set on achieving this goal, and I am not going to let anything get in my way.
