About the Summer Scholars Program

The Summer Scholars Program provides students in the School of Humanities and Sciences at Ithaca College with a full-time opportunity to engage in a research/scholarly/creative project during the summer with direct and ongoing mentorship by an H&S faculty member. This award is given to high-achieving students through a competitive proposal-based process. In 2017, 20 students received H&S Summer Scholar awards.

About the Project

Voices of Motherhood

This project aims to restructure traditional research by allowing the research subjects (single Latina moms in Ithaca) to also be the researcher. In collaboration with myself and Dr. Nia Nunn, mothers were given the opportunity to tell their stories as they saw fit. The future goal of this project is to leave behind a network of support for these moms based on the needs that they express.
