My Introduction to Education course at Chandler-Gilbert Community College truly reinforced my decision to become an educator. In this course I was introduced to many of the important educational issues that affect education nowadays, such as standardized testing, accountability, teaching standards, cheating in the classroom and gender issues, among many others. In this course I was also given the opportunity to briefly explore Howard Gardner’s theory of eight multiple intelligences, and I was introduced to the educational philosophies of several brilliant educators. One thing I particularly enjoyed about this course was the variety of interesting guest speakers that came into the classroom regularly. Through video documentaries, articles, and several research presentations, I was introduced to the amazing world of education.
