Why Pick Me?
By Helen Conroy
With hands raised all around me,
Waving to be picked,
Why choose me to teach for you?
I’ll offer something, quick!
Not for youthfulness, for sure,
As age spots date my face,
But pick me for my passion,
And you’ll see a class awake.
It’s a passion that makes me sparkle
When I come into a room,
Full of kids’ potentials
Waiting there to bloom.
Pick me for my caring,
For my patience, and my mind,
Pick me because I see kids,
As needing someone kind.
Pick me for my ability
To compromise and lead,
Pick me, for I know the time
To care for others’ needs.
If you pick me it’s certain,
I’ll be a treasure through,
And be an asset to your school,
Committed, loyal, true.
