Teachers use their knowledge of subject matter, teaching and learning and technology to facilitate experience that advance student learning, creativity, and innovation in both face-to-face and virtual environments.
In completing the Subject Matter Lesson Plan, I have met ISTE-T 1.a Promote, support, and model creative and innovative thinking and inventiveness. The lesson plan encourages students to be creative through the use of technology, Write About. This website gives students the ability to write for an audience which will enhance their creativity and then assess each other through a peer review. In the end, students have an opportunity to select how they will share their post they have written.
In completing the Subject Matter Lesson Plan, I have met ISTE-T 1.b Engage students in exploring real-world issues and solving authentic problems using digital tools and resources. Within this lesson that I have created, students will be able to engage into the writing process with the technology I have chosen for them to complete it on, Write About. This platform provides students with an authentic audience. In addition, in the classroom we want students to be able to have ample practice to gain proficiency on required skills, this technology gives the students the opportunity to write more than I could possibly grade and allows me to assess the students as they practice writing.
In completing the WebQuest with embedded Virtual Field Trip and the Online Tools Group Project, I have met ISTE-T 1.c Promote student reflection using collaborative tools to reveal and clarify students’ conceptual understanding and thinking, planning, and creative processes. In the student's lesson within the WebQuest, I provide them with the opportunity to reflect on what they learned through the online research they have completed. In preparation of the Online Tools Group Project, I reflect on the research with my fellow teacher candidates using the collaborative tool, Google Hangout.
In completing the WebQuest with embedded Virtual Field Trip and the Online Tools Group Project, I have met ISTE-T 1.d Model collaborative knowledge construction by engaging in learning with students, colleagues, and others in face-to-face and virtual environments. In preparation of the Group Project, I collaborated with fellow teacher candidates within a virtual environment.
