Rationale for St. Patrick's Day Lesson Plans

Context

During Block II I was required to complete and carry out three  lesson plans for my Elementary Social Studies Methods course. The topic for these lessons was St. Patrick's Day.  During these lessons, I focused on what the holiday is about and how it is celebrated around the world.  I also included several fun and engaging arts and crafts activities within these lessons.

Impact

As a future teacher, I will be able to use these lessons to teach my own students about the history of St. Patrick's Day.  Due to my lesson, I feel that my students will be able to learn the history as well as how it is celebrated around the world.

Alignment

I met standard 4, indicator 5 by showing my knowledge of how St. Patrick's Day is celebrated around the world.

I met standard 4, indicator 8 by showing my knowledge of the history and origins of St. Patrick's Day.
