In relation to the IRI workshop, Ms. McIntyre also visited my cooperating teacher to demonstrate how to properly conduct an Informal Reading Inventory with a student.
Impact
As a teacher, the information learned within the workshop and training will be very beneficial to my students. Due to my knowledge on the IRI, I will be able to adequately conduct the inventories on my own students. I will be able to place my students in the appropriate reading groups, which will result in more academic growth.
Alignment
I have met standard 16, indicator 2 because I attended the IRI workshop, which is based upon the school reading policy.
I have met standard 16, indicator 4 because the IRI requires the selection and use of leveled children's literature.
I have met standard 16, indicator 6 because Ms. McIntyre visited my cooperating teacher's classroom to demonstrate, observe, and discuss the methods and instructional delivery of the IRI.
I have met standard 16, indicator 8 because I learned how to apply the IRI within the elementary school setting and participated in the dissemination of and IRI.
I have met standard 16, indicator 9 because I have shown my understanding of the importance of collaborating with colleagues such as Ms. McIntyre to strengthen the content, research, and pedagogy of the IRI.
