Rationale for iMovie (Enemy Pie)
Context
Using a digital video camera and iMovie, my classmates and I created a movie to be used in elementary shcool classrooms about a children's book (Enemy Pie).
In this movie, we used a digital camera to film us acting out the story. Afterward, we uploaded the movie to a Macintosh computer using a firewire. Then, we used the iMovie program to edit the film clips and to add sound effects.
Impact
When I teach, this experience will be beneficial to me because of my knowledge of using a digital camera and iMovie to create a movie. I will be able to use this knowledge to create other movies, or to have students create their own movies.
Alignment
IB - I met this standard by using a very current program (iMovie) to create a state-of-the-art video production.
IID - I met this standard because the technology resources that I learned to manage are digital cameras and video production equipment. I learned how to use a digital video camera, tripod and I also learned ways to take care of a digital video camera tape. When I teach I will be able to show my students this.
VIB - I met this standard through the use of iMovie. iMovie is a very hands on method of teaching that appeals to diverse learners. It uses a variety of senses (touch, sound, sight) and is very interactive and engaging, thus keeping the attention of LD or ADHD children and all levels of learners.
DPI standard 6, indicator 1-I met this by doing a storyboard; The arts disciplines that I am using are the visual arts (using iMovie) and theatre arts ( acting out the book and planning a script).
DPI standard 12 - I met this standard because I learned how to integrate technology (use of computers and iMovie) with the arts (graphic and visual arts of drama and video production).
