About Me

Hi! My name is Rachel Gerton and I am from Minnetonka, Minnesota. I am a senior at Loyola University Chicago, and I will be graduating in May of 2018 with a Bachelors of Science in Psychology. In addition to the Social Justice Internship Program, I participate in Loyola's community through Alpha Phi Omega service fraternity and in the Campus Ministry department with the Alternative Break Immersion Program. Next year, I have committed to a year of service with Mercy Volunteer Corps. I will be serving in St. Michael's, Arizona as a therapy aide at St. Michael's Association for Special Education, a school for kids with developmental disabilities.

I am so thankful to have been part of the Social Justice Internship program at Loyola - I have grown in my familiarity of inclusive fitness, ability to lead, comfort in communication, independence, understanding of the impact of policy, and awareness of community resources. As I prepare to graduate and embark on a year of post-graduate service working with people with disabilities, I am hopeful that these learning experiences will continue to guide me in pursuing just and constructive change.
