Undergraduate Research Program

Endeavors 2010

The Loyola Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program is a collection of undergraduate research fellowships across many disciplines at Loyola University Chicago. The Endeavors magazine above is a collection of featured students highlighting their research in many of the fellowship programs at Loyola.

In my role at Loyola, I oversee LUROP with a full-time dedicated staff professional.  I also serve as the co-director of the Provost Fellowship for Undergraduate Research, the largest of all the undergraduate research fellowship programs. We also facilitate the university-wide Undergraduate Research Symposium for Loyola University Chicago, featuring over 140 students presenting research posters across all disciplines. You may review the Undergraduate Research Symposium Programs for 2010, 2011, 2012, and 2013. The 2014 program is featured below.

In 2014, we worked closely with the Office of the Provost to secure funding for more research fellowships for Loyola students, increasing fellowship offerings by 30% and launching a new fellowship program, the Social Justice Research Fellowship

In my tenure at Loyola, I integrated the Loyola Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program (LUROP) into the Center for Experiential Learning; in addition, I integrated within the undergraduate research program  two (2) of the experiential learning courses, UNIV 291 (focused on community-based research) and UNIV 391 (focused on research internships).
