Undergraduate Research and Engagement Symposium

Combining high impact learning initiatives, such as the undergraduate research program with the service-learning and academic internship programs, the Center for Experiential Learning facilitates the largest university-wide symposium each spring at Loyola University Chicago, called the Undergraduate Research and Engagement Symposium.

  • In 2016, over 300 students presented their research, creative activity, community engagement projects, and learning portfolios through research posters, oral presentations, ePortfolios, and project displays;
  • Over 70 faculty, staff, community partners, and alumni served as evaluators to provide constructive feedback and enhance student learning;
  • After the symposium, the Center for Experiential Learning facilitated student awards focused on outstanding research, highlighting community engagement social justice and impact, and honoring faculty research mentor;
