Rationale for Teacher Classroom Webpage
Context
In my CI3750 class, one of our projects was to make a webpage for our future elementary classroom. We used TaskStream to create the web page and we published it to the internet. The address for my web page is:
http://www.taskstream.com/ts/hardy17/Classroom.html
The password to view this page is classroom.
On the web page I included a calendar and events page, a homework page, a student page, a parent page, a page for my internship. I also created a media literacy page which has links and current research regarding television and video games. The media literacy page also includes a survey that was completed with Mrs. Howell’s first grade classroom regarding their experiences with television and video games.
Impact
I’m going to use this web page in my classroom by continuing to subscribe to Taskstream and have the web page accessible to the students in my classroom. I will keep the pages updated to allow my students another form of access to assignments and up coming classroom projects. I will also use the webpage to keep parents and other faculty informed about upcoming classroom and school events. The webpage will also allow parents to keep up to date on the material being covered in class and allow them to take an active role in their child’s education in my classroom. The web page is a wonderful resource to keep parents and students informed.
Alignment
I have met competencies IIB and IIC because I gave my classroom parents and students current websites for them to access information about topics in education. I also researched a media topic about students watching television and playing video games and gave websites and information for parents to read to learn more about television and games systems and their child. Our instructor gave us an accurate and current website to begin our research (www.justhink.org).
I met competency IIE because I can use this web page to manage my students' homework. If a student is absent, he/she can look at our classroom web page to see what we did that day.
I met competency IVB when I gave my students in my internship classroom a survey about their experiences with television and video games. I have a page created on my classroom web page that gives the results and a summary of this data. It is important that I understand elementary age children and their involvement with media.
I met competency VA because I have created a web page that I will continue to use in my professional career. I can subscribe to TaskStream each year and will be able to create additional web pages such as the Story Pictures web page I made.
I met competency VIA because I sent out media release forms with my students in my internship classroom so that I could get permission to photograph them. I made my web page password protected so that it can be viewed with permission only.
I met competency VIC because I included a media release form in Spanish for parents in my classroom who have English as a second language.
