Rationale for Creative Drama Lesson Plans
Context
During the course THR 3856-101, I created and taught three creative drama lessons on the five senses. The three lessons were consecutive in content and order and are constructed to teach about sight, smell, and touch. Within the three lessons there are step by step instructions for interactive activities and games that involve and incorporate creative drama skills, such as pantomiming animal movements in the sight lesson, or using the five senses to describe a setting of an event. All of these lessons were taught to either peers in the class or to students at
Impact
This activity has provided me the experience of creating consecutive lessons that can be taught in the classroom and that incorporate creative drama into everyday teaching. I plan to use these lessons with my future students and will integrate creative drama into my future lessons.
Alignment
I have met NC DPI Standard 6: Indicator 1 because I have created three lessons on the Five Senses and have integrated creative drama into them. When creating the lessons I thought about the vocabulary, materials, techniques, and thinking processes that would most benefit the lessons into making them more interactive and engaging, the two things that make creative drama come to life.
