George W. Bush was born in 1946 in Connecticut, but he grew up in Texas.  His father, George H.W. Bush was elected President of the United States in 1989.

He went to college at Yale University and went on to get his master’s degree from Harvard University.

In 1977 he married Laura Welch.  They have two daughters. 

Before he became president, George Bush served in the Texas National Guard.  He also worked in the energy business.  In 1994 he was elected Governor of Texas.

George W. Bush was the forty-third President of the United States.  He was elected in 2000.  He served from 2000-2008.  Bush was a two term president. 

During his presidency the US was attacked by terrorists.  This happened on September 11, 2001.  President Bush created the Department of Homeland Security to help protect the US from future attacks.  He worked hard to fight terrorism around the world. 

Now President Bush lives in Texas and gives speeches.  He is also writing a book about what it’s like to be president.
