Computer Information Systems (BUS 6613) - 36 weeks

Suggested Grade Level: 10 11 12
Prerequisites: 6150 OR 6151

In Bus 6612 Computer Information Systems students apply problem-solving skills to real-life situations through word processing, spreadsheets, databases, multimedia presentations, and integrated software activities. Students work individually and in groups to explore computer concepts, operating systems, networks, telecommunications, and emerging technologies. The cooperative education method is available for this course. Students combine classroom instruction and supervised on-the-job training in an approved position with continuing supervision throughout the school year.
 

In Bus 6613 Advanced Computer Information Systems, students apply problem-solving skills to real-life situations through advanced integrated software applications, including printed, electronic, and Web publications. Students work individually and in groups to explore advanced computer maintenance activities, Web site development, programming, networking, emerging technology, and employability skills. The cooperative education method is available for this course. Students combine classroom instruction and supervised on-the-job training in an approved position with continuing supervision throughout the school year.

Recommended prerequisite(s): Keyboarding course(s) or teacher-approved demonstration and documentation of touch keyboarding skills

A = 100-95

Makeup Tests: Make-up tests will be given during exam period as indicated on the Course Calendar. Students may take no more than two make-up tests. A student missing more than two tests will be assigned zeroes for those missed tests.

Attendance:   Regular class attendance is required. Students who fail to submit three consecutive assignments by the due date and do not contact the instructor may be administratively withdrawn from the class. However, students who wish to withdraw from the class should not assume they will be administratively withdrawn for non-attendance. The ultimate responsibility for withdrawing from the class rests with the student.

Anything less is unacceptable and is considered academically dishonest. Please refer to the Student Handbook for the definition of specific terms related to academic dishonesty.
