The culminating course for my Masters program, TEC 580 builds upon all the previous lessons and theories to create a framework that implements technology in the classroom. By using support from my instructor, mentor, classmates, and family, I am able to design and execute technology events that increase student achievement while modeling effective strategies for my peers and administrators to replicate in their classrooms and schools. The seven weeks are challenging but ultimately fulfilling as I realize my abilities continue to grow and I look beyond to additional opportunities for specialized training to increase my professional skills. Perhaps most rewarding is the knowledge that my educational philosophy containing technology integration is sound. The future contains multiple emerging tools that I eagerly await to implement in my classroom in the future.

  1. Creative/Critical Thinking Reflection (Module 5) Creative/Critical Thinking Reflection (Module 5)
This document details a statement of problem and the activity I implemented to introduce, practice, and establish the desired skill. Students are practicing real-world skills by exploring the application and experimenting with the features. The goal is fluency with fundamental Word formatting and text entry.
  2. Cumulative Activity Log and Reflections (Modules 1-7) Cumulative Activity Log and Reflections (Modules 1-7)
This document contains dates and times for all activities needed to complete the practicum. Additionally, weekly reflection logs are included that demonstrate professional growth during the practicum in accordance with the graduate program. The focus of the practicum for the first graders was sentence formation while using Microsoft Word as a digital tool transitioning from pencil and paper. Journaling electronically is the long term goal beyond the practicum experience as the students will then be able to create digital artifacts.
  3. Final Reflection Final Reflection
This paper describes how the Grand Canyon University Masters in Education program has equipped the author for future actions teaching technology. The document demonstrates reflection and evaluation of activities during course work.
  4. Midterm/Final Evaluation Form (Module 7) Midterm/Final Evaluation Form (Module 7)
This document is my mentor evaluation of my progress through the practicum. The checklist and associated text highlights my strengths and abilities through observations and conferences during the course. After completing the evaluation, my mentor and I discussed the outcomes and how I can continue to improve my abilities.
  5. Peer Mentor Observation Reflection Form (Module 5) Peer Mentor Observation Reflection Form (Module 5)
This document details an observation from my mentor during a computer lab session. The form describes the activity and challenges for the students. This summary demonstrates my ability to implement lessons that provide skills for student achievement. The students first participated in keyboarding practice before transitioning to Word for practice journaling using complete sentences.
  6. Practicum Action Plan Form (Module 2) Practicum Action Plan Form (Module 2)
This document provides the background data for my practicum action plan. The goals, activities, and standards addressed are included in this form. The illustration this imparts shows the ability to construct pertinent activities to increase student achievement using digital tools. It also shows the understanding of how current productivity tools are usable by younger students if correct modeling and exploration occurs.
  7. Resume (Module 1) Resume (Module 1)
An updated resume for this course to reflect future goals and ideals.
  8. Santa Letter (Module 6) Santa Letter (Module 6)
This artifact was suggested by the Technology Integration Specialist at my school. My class participates in a video conference with Mrs. Claus in which their letters are read by her during the conference. I designed the template for the students to showcase their new Word skills by using the cloze procedure in two sentences and listing items for Christmas with bullets at the end. The students navigated to their folder on the network, opened the document, entered the data, saved, and printed the letter with assistance.
  9. Summative Assessment (Module 7) Summative Assessment (Module 7)
This paper examines my performance when implementing the professional standards associated with my practicum action plan. The document shows how my technology integration is utilized along with reflection and growth during and after the lessons.
  10. Technology Self-Evaluation (Module 1) Technology Self-Evaluation (Module 1)
At the beginning of the course, this document provides a glimpse of how I view my ability to integrate technology. My strength is technology understanding and manipulation of digital tools to achieve results. More importantly, I firmly believe that my prowess with electronic media demands sharing with those that struggle to combine technology with curriculum to grant students experiences exemplify future skills.
