Dear CSUSB campus community,

This website presents information about the WASC accreditation process. You are encouraged to read as much as possible before the WASC team visit (September 30—October 2, 2014).

WASC (Western Association of Schools and Colleges) is one of the six regional accreditation agencies in America, covering California, Hawaii, and the Pacific regions. Four-year institutions seek accreditation from WASC for Senior Colleges and Universities while non-four year institutions obtain theirs from two other commissions (one for junior colleges and the other for K-12 schools and non-degree granting post-secondary institutions).

Since WASC accredits the entire institution, the accreditation review process is comprehensive, covering all facets of an institution. The institution engaged in such a process rallies the entire campus community in an all-out effort to demonstrate that the standards set by the agency (WASC Standards and Criteria for Review on this site) have been met or exceeded.

CSUSB received a ten-year accreditation in 2004. The current process was commenced by a campus-wide self-study conducted in 2012-2013. That process resulted in the submission of a set of documents to WASC. These documents are presented on this site under the heading Response to WASC Standards (Self-Study and Report).

On November 18, 2013, the WASC team conducted its off-site visit with CSUSB. That visit led to what is called Lines of Inquiry, essentially a request for additional information to be submitted in two batches: by February 28, 2014 and by July 31, 2014. On this site, the section entitled Response to Follow-up Questions includes all of these documents.

The last step of the review process is the site visit by the visiting team. The site visit is scheduled from September 30 to October 2, 2014. Under the heading Site Visit are the team roster and itinerary.
