First off, If I'm going to be talking about Dungeons & Dragons, I should start by elaborating on what it is exactly. While it'd be difficult to explain in a timely manor due to the many moving parts in the game, I'll try to give a basic understanding. Dungeons & Dragons is a tabletop role-playing game that arose in the 70s made by a team called "Tactical Studies Rules" before being bought by Wizards of the Coast in 1997. Being a roleplaying game, the players all play characters of their own creation, have them interact, and adventure together. Now, those are the players, but another important part is the Dungeon master, who controls the world and the adventure the players go on. This might sound like it would lead to a "player's versus DM" setup, but while the DM does control the monsters the players fight, I tend to view it more as a collaborative storytelling game between thee two, where to goal is to have fun and create stories. Anyway, to add an element of randomness, certain activities and most of combat are determined by the roll of dice, usually a 20-sided die. That's a basic rundown of things!
IIn terms of my campaign, I'm still preparing to come back when one of my players finishes moving, but its starting to seem like we may be coming back sooner rather than later! Stay tuned!
