Adaptive technology is the name for products which help people who cannot use regular versions of products, primarily people with physical disabilities such as limitations to vision, hearing, and mobility.  Adaptive technology promotes greater effectiveness for persons with functional limitations or disabilities by enabling them to perform tasks that they were formerly unable to accomplish, or had great difficulty accomplishing. Adaptive technology provides changed methods of interacting with or enhancements to the technology.

We have one student who is hearing-impaired. Arlington Public Schools provides an interpreter to sign for him so he will understand what is being said.

The CDX online curriculum allows students to access the program from any computer, anytime. This allows the students to work at their own pace. The program has videos on theory, knowledge check questions throughout which gives us the opportunity to discuss our answers, and has real life diagnostic scenarios the students must navigate through.

S/P2 Safety and Pollution prevention online program has the option of changing language to better accomodate the a student's preference.

The Career Center has a special education specialist that assists staff in meeting student's IEP needs. Some modifications that have been used are to print out online tests for the student and to have test questions read to the student.

The attachment is of a student's IEP. This student will be seated in the front so I can assist him better if needed. When we are performing hands-on tasks, I will put him with one or two other students that can help him along. Assignments and tests are all online, allowing students as much time to complete them as needed.
