The Automotive Technology Program purchased the trailer for the little green house project at a cost of $2000. This will allow the house to be moved throughout the county for demonstration of "green" building technology.

Our program donates money for the in-school $500 program grants every year, at a cost of $2000.
Funds for this program come from the sale of donated vehicles, which students then prepare for resale using online auction.

We host elementary school students every year in our shop, introducing them to internal combustion engines, as well as showing them the shop and how it works.

Our students repair vehicles for people in the community for parts cost only.

We host career days for eighth graders to come see vehicles and career opportunities.

We teach two Automotive Technology courses at the Career Center for Arlington Adult and Commumity Education.

Artifact 40 - evidence of teacher participation in CTSO at local, reg., state, nat'l. levels

CTSO is Career Technical Student Organization.

We enroll 100% of our students in Skills USA and the Ford AAA competitions. The fees are paid from the car sales account so that none of the students have to pay for their enrollment fees. Instructors always help the students prepare for the competition and go with the students to the competition site. After the competition, we review the technical aspects of the competition to see how we can improve and or adjust the curriculum to help us in the future. We have made it to the state competition on several occaisions but have not yet made it to the national competition in Kansas City.

We participate in the Ford AAA troubleshooting competition every year and have made it to the state competition on several occaisions. One of our Dealer partners, Koon's Ford of Falls Church, helps us with preparing the students for the competition. We have not yet qualified for national competition in Dearborn Michigan.

We follow the AYES model in our program and encourage all students to participate, one of our students was selected by AYES to speak at the board of directors meeting in Washington DC where he addressed the board which is made up of leaders of industry. In attendance were the ceo's of GM, Toyota, Mercedes Benz, BMW, Subaru, Nissan, NADA, and many more.
