(1) Recommending Candidates for Licensure

Standard 28. The unit must designate a leader responsible for:
(1) recommending candidates for licensure upon completion of the teacher preparation program;

The Dean of the School of Urban Education (UED) as unit leader delegates responsibility to the Director of Field Experiences who also serves as UED Licensure Officer and recommends candidates for licensure upon completing our programs. The UED Licensure Officer is PELSB trained and certified for the role and has the responsibility for working with program completers who are ready to apply for licensure. He signs off on their application as the institutional  recommendation for licensure that the candidate has successfully completed the PELSB-approved program for their licensure area. The UED Dean once served as the unit’s alternative authorized licensure officer when he was department chair years ago, and can recommend candidates for licensure if the Director Field Experience/Licensure Officer is ever unavailable for an extended period of weeks.
