2022 METRO STATE SCHOOL OF URBAN EDUCATION UNIT REPORT TO PELSB

(3) Completes Training

Standard 15: The unit must ensure each supervisor:

(3) completes training on the program requirements and evaluation procedures for candidates.

When the university supervisors are hired, the Director of Field Experiences onboards the new hires and provides student teacher supervision orientation training that covers program requirements and evaluation procedures during student teaching, including the university supervisor’s role ranging from triad meetings, following up on training for cooperating teachers, using TaskStream, providing feedback on candidates’ regular reflections, conducting lesson observations, coaching candidates to complete the edTPA, and completing overall evaluations. University supervisors have annual individual meetings with the Director of Field Experiences to reflect upon the program requirements, evaluation procedures, support for candidates and candidate performance. When possible, the Director of Field Experiences has a university supervisor shadow a university supervisor a semester before they take on a teacher candidate alone to learn from the experienced university supervisor.

The Director of Field Experience keeps a record in TaskStream of when each university supervisor has completed such training (see Figure 15.3).
