Map Project

Context:

This map project was created in the Fall 2009 during student teaching under the cooperating teacher Carmelle Martin and under the supervision of Cindy Poe.

Impact:

This is a social studies project for students to gain a better understanding of the world they live in.  They should understand where they live: the city, the county, the state, the country and the continent.

Alignment:

Standard 11: Elementary teachers connect social studies with the broad curriculum.

Indicator 5: Teachers incorporate technology skills in their social studies lessons through collecting data, organizing and sorting data, and displaying data in a variety of ways.

I met this standard by creating a lesson plan that will allow students to use technology to help find pictures, maps, and data about the world in which they live.
