The first day I read the story to the youth, they were mostly attentive and sitting still. I would ask comprehension questions regarding the story and would see many hands go up. The hardest part of the lesson for me was to pick someone who does not normally raise his or her hand. Almost all would answer my questions correctly. Those who did not, I worked with them to remember the answer by pointing to certain images and probing their knowledge for connections to the answer. Asking certain questions would do this. The second day, students were able to complete the assignment of reading pre-written dialog bubbles and place them on the storyboard of the same story read aloud the previous day. I did have to assist those reading the dialog bubbles who needed or wanted help. Breaking down the words into clusters and asking them what sounds certain letters make helped.
