The Carroll County High School Building Trades program utilizes several primary sources to assess continuous improvement needs and strategies to incorporate into the program.
1. Virginia DOE Regulations - Current requirements but also planning for anticipated requirements. For example, Credentialing testing has been a part of the program for the past seven years in anticipation of this assessment requirement.
2. By attending trade conferences (VATIE), advisory board meetings (secondary and post-secondary), seminars, and workshops (CREATES) determinations are made to establish future content area training for students or material or equipment required.
3. Partnerships with businesses, industry leaders, regulators (building inspectors, OSHA), the local community college (Wytheville Community College), and area contractors.
4. SKillsUSA involvement in Leadership Conferences and classes.
5. Feedback from current students and graduates.
6. Continuing education to better meet the learning styles and needs of the individual student.
7. Access to funding factors in greatly on implementation or extent.
