Credential Application

Credential Application- Any student applying for and starting a program on or after July 1, 2008, will be required to pass the Performance Assessment of California Teachers (edTPA) as required by California State Law. This is a high-stakes evaluation of student teachers who must pass the assessment in order to be recommended for their credential. The major portion of this assessment will occur at the time that students are completing their student teaching; minor portions will be assessed as students complete the course requirements throughout the program. The edTPA is aligned to and consistent with the California Teacher Performance Expectations (TPE). 

What does the edTPA cost?

The edTPA costs $300, which includes official scoring and score reporting for you and the program. Additional score reports are $50. Retakes cost $100 for a single task (planning, instruction, or assessment) or $300 for a complete edTPA.

How to apply?

You will apply for your credential through our office. When you have successfully completed all program course work, submitted any outstanding test scores, CPR, official transcripts, ect., and grades are posted to your official SDSU IV transcript, you will be recommended for your credential. The recommendation process is done by the credential analyst, online, through the Commission on Teacher Credentialing's webportal. Once this is completed, you will receive two emails: one form the credential analyst, and one from the CTC (but looks like it comes from our offices). You will be given directions to go into the system, complete the online application, and pay the credential fee. If you do not complete the process, you will not hold the valid teaching credential for which you have worked so hard.

You will need a valid email address (AOL or Netscape email addresses cannot be used), and be able to pay the fee with a credit card.
