Perhaps not surprisingly, I found the social constructs underlying British culture much more prosocial than in the U.S. The government quite literally funds movies and television that promotes British culture, history, or locals. Some of my biggest takeaways from the trip happened when I was at a pub talking to the locals. I heard perspectives of police officers and drunkards alike. It was fascinating. I love hearing people's stories (hence my interest in counseling) and the pub culture of the U.K. was completely conducive to those experiences. From the quaint gardens to the bustling streets to the ancient architecture and rich art scene, I will always treasure this place. I became so accustomed to the rich London lifestyle that it was hard to come home. I think I'll never truly leave in my heart.
