For this project, I had to design an activity that would allow the hearing impaired to interact equally with their hearing peers. I decided to create a game that involved sight through the use of technology. Below you will find a lesson plan I created describing the activity, the PowerPoint, and the worksheet. I think this exciting activity allows children, hearing and not, the opportunity to learn while working at their own pace.
Do You Know This Place?
Objective: For children to identify famous places
Subjects:
History/Geography – historical landmarks, monuments, tourist sites, etc.
Technology – use Microsoft PowerPoint to view photographs
What You Will Need:
What to Do:
Suggestions: Discuss with the children the importance of the buildings, landmarks, etc. that you chose. See if the children have visited those places or have heard of them.
Allow the children to create their own PowerPoint slide shows with something they are interested in (baseball players, constellations, dinosaurs, paintings, etc.). They can present them to the class or trade with a classmate.
This activity can be modified to present just about any lesson for any subject.
