The Lee Career and Technical Center along with the Lee County School System is committed to the highest academic standards. Inspired by the motto “Committed to Excellence,” our mission continues to focus on students by providing the highest standard of education to students of all ability levels. We strive to prepare students to be responsible citizens who are prepared to meet the challenges of an ever-changing world.

Mission statement

It is the mission of the Computer Information Systems Program  to provide advance technology classroom instructional time for all students so they will be prepared for a life of continuous learning and successful at providing for the basic necessities of life for themselves and their future families.

Vision

The Computer Information Systems Program realizes that technology changes daily. It is the duty of the instructor and the school system to inspire between educators and the community such united efforts as will as secure for every child the fullest development in academic, vocational, physical, and social education.

Lee County Career and Technical Center
The Lee County Career and Technical Center offers an array of programs such as: Some of the courses offered are dual enrollment courses with Mountain Empire Community College. The goal is to provide students with knowledge and skills necessary to compete in the career and technical fields of employment. Computer Information Systems (6612) - 36 weeks

Suggested Grade Level: 10 11 12
Prerequisites: 6150 OR 6151

Students apply problem-solving skills to real-life situations through word processing, spreadsheets, databases, multimedia presentations, and integrated software activities. Students work individually and in groups to explore computer concepts, operating systems, networks, telecommunications, and emerging technologies. The cooperative education method is available for this course. Students combine classroom instruction and supervised on-the-job training in an approved position with continuing supervision throughout the school year.
Recommended prerequisite(s): Keyboarding course(s) or teacher-approved demonstration and documentation of touch keyboarding skills

Computer Information Systems, Advanced (6613) - 36 weeks

Suggested Grade Level: 10 11 12
Prerequisites: 6612 6614

Students apply problem-solving skills to real-life situations through advanced integrated software applications, including printed, electronic, and Web publications. Students workindividually and in groups to explore advanced computer maintenance activities, Web site development, programming, networking, emerging technology, and employability skills. The cooperative education method is available for this course. Students combine classroom instruction and supervised on-the-job training in an approved position with continuing supervision throughout the school year.

In addition to our mission and value statements, the Career & Technical Center Director regularly reviews and meets with the Business Instructors to ensure that we are working to meet the missions and standards set for the Business Education Department.  We work together as a department to work on program improvements. 

Course Expectations and discussion of current competency lists are discussed with all students. Competences are tracked on a 9 weeks pacing guide. At the completion on the course, all students must have completed a minimum of 80% of the competencies.

 One major challenge of the Computer Information Systems Program is to get more involved on the Region and State level of Future Business Leaders of America. With the improvement of activities in FBLA, students will develop stronger leadership and social skills.
