Technology to support Assessment
In today’s society we are submerged in technology, everywhere we look technology is there waiting to take a bite out of our pockets. When it comes to school and technology, it becomes a necessary to be able to utilize certain tools. As educators, we use technology for more than just giving lessons; we also use technology as a form of assessment. Formative assessment is used for assessing students while they are actually working on their assignments. In doing this the teacher can give feedback along the way. Summative assessment is used after the lesson has been completed. The teacher will give the students a letter grade. Technology can facilitate the ongoing process of the students learning.
Choosing an idea assessment tool will ensure, that the student is receiving all that he or she can get out of the lesson.
What good is it to have the tools that we need, if we are not familiar with the technical aspect of the tool or application? That is the reason that educators take workshops, and go back to school to sharpen their skills. Technology can facilitate the ongoing process of the students learning.
When using technology to make assessments, there are certain things that need to be present, to enable a proper assessment tool.
All of the questions depends on how much knowledge the teacher has. Some teachers are more tech savvy, than others. It also depends on the level content of the students. You would not want to use terminology meant for a high school student, and use that same terminology for an elementary student. The same thing applies for special needs students. Make the technology assessment tool, grade appropriate. When choosing an assessment tool one must also want the technology to incorporate the ability to review mistakes, answer question, and go back to the learning plan. This is idea for after school hours. Students will be able to follow-up where the teacher left off. This is where the student website comes into play. Students will literally, be able to ask questions, review assignments, and receive instruction on how the teacher wants the assignment to be done. Another way to reach out to the teacher is through e-mail.
Technology has done wonders, to enhance the learning of our students, and teacher, and the guardians who are involved their Childs life. Living in the 21st century, students must be able to think globally and to be flexible, the more technology grows, the more we as educators must grow as well, this also means that educators must rely more on technology assessment tools. Learning and Innovation Skills are a necessary for our students to be successful in the world today. With the help of assessments tools, we as educators can help our students to advance to the next level with confidence.
