2022 METRO STATE SCHOOL OF URBAN EDUCATION UNIT REPORT TO PELSB

(1) Review data

Standard 4 (1): The unit's assessment system must include a process to engage its stakeholders ... to systematically review data collected under Standard 3;

The UED involves and engages stakeholders (i.e. candidates, program completers, school partners, teacher educators and community representatives) in reviewing aggregated data from surveys, clinical experiences, course-based signature assessments and standardized assessments (MTLE and edTPA). While the UED previously engaged stakeholders every 1-2 years in person, starting in spring 2022 we held our first virtual stakeholder group meeting via Zoom and during the 2022-23 school year we have two meetings scheduled–one each in fall and spring semesters. Under new unit leadership and new unit standards, we now plan to hold such stakeholder meetings consistently twice per year, during which stakeholders review aggregated candidate performance data and provide feedback about unit strengths and areas for improvement as well as recommendations for making improvements (see Figure 4.1). Stakeholders also review demographic enrollment and completion data consistent with the mission of the UED to increase the number of teachers of color and American Indian teachers in Twin Cities metro areas schools.  See Figure 4.2 for a flowchart representation of the process for involving our Advisory Group in reviewing data collected through our assessment system.
