T.V. News Reporter
1. Pick your favorite scene from the book.
2. Do your homework!! What I mean by that is do your research that surrounds the events of your scene. Go to the resources page and look up information about the 1960's or about a particular event or issue. For example: homelessness, gang violence, heroic events (saving the children from the burning church), economic boundaries.
3. Watch the news and take notes on what you see. What kinds of questions do they ask? What do they report on?
4. Draft a 5 minute broadcast to present to the class.
Don't forget the 5 W's (Who?,What?,Where?,When?,Why?)!
5. Present to your classmates. What suggestions did they give for improvements? What did they like?
6. Revise if needed.
7. Write final draft of your broadcast.
8. Present your broadcast to the class.
* You will be graded on sentence fluency, voice, and presentation.
