Great Math Links

The internet can be a great source for teachers. Throughout the semester, I came across helpful math web sites. Some of the sites offer free lesson plans, while others provide online activities that allow students to apply the concepts they have learned to a specific game or activity. They are all great web sites and I plan to use them as a teacher.

PBS

PBS TeacherSource is a great web site that gives teachers access to thousands of free lesson plans arranged by subject, grade level, and location. It also allows you to personalize the site to meet your particular needs. The math lessons are great and some of the activities even go hand in hand with some of PBS' quality children's shows.

National Library for Virtual Manipulatives

This interactive website allows students to practice different concepts through exciting games and activities. The activities are grouped by concept and also by grade levels that range from Pre-K to 12th grade. Teachers can easily view the standards that each of the games and activities meet.

The Learning Box

The Learning Box is a great website that provides hands-on online activities that allow students of all ages practice different math concepts such as place value and fractions. I personally enjoyed "BT Bear's Catch 10" and "Manny's Rumba." I think it would be a great way to give students extra place value practice while they are learning concepts where they need to regroup.

This helpful website offers hundreds of pages of interactive practice for basic math skills. The pages are arranged by topic and grade level, and contain links to teacher and web resources. For students, there are links that provide them with homework help and learning aids.

It even gives students access to different kinds of on-line calculators! This website also provides many great lesson plans and fun ideas for teachers.
