In response to the need to create more paid internships for Loyola students, wedded with the desire to enhance our social justice initiatives and partnership with Catholic Charities and Misericordia, I created the Social Justice Internship Grant Program. This program is a collaboration with Loyola's Office of Financial Aid, providing much needed support for Loyola students who have financial need and want professional experience in an internship.

The Social Justice Internship Grant Program is a year-long, 300 hour internship experience. Students will have the opportunity to engage in significant work at one of two Chicago area non-profits: Catholic Charities and Misericordia. Through a competitive application process, 10 students will be selected and will move through the internship experience in a cohort model. In the first (fall) semester, students will participate in trainings on campus and at their site. The cohort will meet monthly for community building, reflection, and continued training. In the second (spring) semester, students will enroll in a section of UNIV 390, gaining 3 hours of academic credit for their internship experience.
