Sketchbook assignments are easy, fun, fast and used as practice for all major projects. Your first assignment will be to design the cover of your sketchbook using the guidelines from the Cover design assignment below. The cover design will express who you are at this point in time as an artist. On a practical note the design is limited to a specific color by class for easy identification. Be sure to print out the collage technique handout below to help you perfect your collage application skills.
In the body of your sketchbook you will be doing both in-class and independant assignments, In class you will be sketching designs, evaluating a process, writing art vocabulary, taking notes on a demo, making thumbnail sketches, writing reflections and more. At home you will be completing your own personal entrees based on a list of prompts. See the weekly assignments handouts below, which describe what a sketchbook is used for and includes a list of prompts and assignment due dates. Be sure to scroll down to the second page to get all of the information!
Students are responsible for all sketchbook assignments! Sketchbooks are collected every two weeks during the semester for grading. Some of the assignments are done in class while others are independent homework
Please write your name, class period and the page numbers where each assignment is located on the grade sheet. Be sure to include the grade sheet every time you hand in your sketchbook. Filled out grade sheets must accompany sketchbooks in order to be graded.
